Welcome to the web pages of the Joint Committee on Tax Law Rewrite Bills.
Following the Dissolution of Parliament on 12th April 2010, all committees have ceased to exist unless or until a committee is renominated following the general election. There are no chairs or members of committees.
The information on these pages therefore refers to the committee and its work before Parliament was dissolved.
The Joint Committee on Tax Law Rewrite Bills includes Members of both the House of Commons and House of Lords, and exercises scrutiny of tax law rewrite bills. These bills are intended to make the language of tax law simpler, while preserving the effect of the existing law, subject to minor changes. The Bills are prepared by the Tax Law Rewrite Project Team at the HM Revenue & Customs.
