1. UNCAT

Resolved, That the Committee take evidence from Keir Starmer QC and Jane Gordon, Human Rights Advisers to the Northern Ireland Policing Board, in connection with the inquiry into UK compliance with the UN Convention against Torture (UNCAT).

2. IMPLEMENTATION OF STRASBOURG JUDGMENTS

Draft Report [Implementation of Strasbourg Judgments: First Progress Report] proposed by the Chairman, brought up and read.

[ The formal minutes relating to the consideration of the Report are published in the Thirteenth Report from the Joint Committee on Human Rights, Session 2005-06, Implementation of Strasbourg Judgments: First Progress Report , HL Paper 133/HC 954, pp 29-31.]

3. LEGISLATIVE SCRUTINY PROGRESS REPORT

Draft Report [Legislative Scrutiny: Sixth Progress Report], proposed by the Chairman, brought up and read.

Ordered, That the draft Report be read a second time, paragraph by paragraph.

Paragraphs 1.1 to 5.2 read and agreed to.

Summary read and agreed to.

Resolved, That the Report be the Fourteenth Report of the Committee to each House.

Several Papers were ordered to be appended to the Report.

Ordered, That the Chairman do make the Report to the House of Commons and Baroness Stern do make the Report to the House of Lords.
