1. OLDER PERSONS IN HEALTHCARE

Resolved, That the Committee visit Denmark and Sweden in connection with its inquiry into the human rights of older persons in healthcare.€”( The Chairman.)

Ordered, That the Chairman seek the approval of the House of Commons Liaison Committee for expenditure in connection with the said visit.

2. TREATMENT OF ASYLUM SEEKERS

Rt Hon Rosie Winterton MP, Minister of State for Health Services, Frances Logan, Assistant Director of Legal Services, Jeff Peers, Head of Primary Medical Care Access, and Richard Rook, Mental Health, Department of Health, were examined.

Mr Justice Hodge OBE, President, and Mrs Nehar Bird, Immigration Judge, Asylum and Immigration Tribunal, were examined.

3. LEGISLATIVE SCRUTINY
The Committee considered this matter.

4. LEGISLATIVE SCRUTINY: THIRD PROGRESS REPORT
Draft Report [Legislative Scrutiny: Third Progress Report], proposed by the Chairman, brought up and read.

Ordered, That the draft Report be read a second time, paragraph by paragraph.

Paragraphs 1.1 to 2.38 read and agreed to.

Summary read and agreed to.

Resolved, That the Report be the Fifth Report of the Committee to each House.

Several papers were ordered to be appended to the Report.

Ordered, That the Chairman make the Report to the House of Commons and Baroness Stern make the Report to the House of Lords.
