This is the third and final evidence session for the inquiry into DFID’s Annual Report 2008, following sessions with DFID’s Independent Advisory Committee on Development Impact (IACDI) and with the Department’s Permanent Secretary and officials in July. It offers the opportunity to look at DFID’s primary objective - meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) - in light of the UN High Level Event on the MDGs held in September 2008. The session is a chance to explore new financial pledges and development initiatives agreed at the Event with the Secretary of State, and to discuss the possible impact of the global financial crisis on development assistance.
