Evidence Session with the Secretary of State for International Development:
The International Development Committee is to hold an evidence session with Clare Short, Secretary of State for International Development on the response to humanitarian needs in Iraq both during and since the end of the conflict. The session will also seek to address Iraq's reconstruction needs.

The Committee invites organisations and individuals with relevant experience and expertise to submit memoranda. In particular, the Committee is interested to receive evidence on the following issues:
The adequacy of humanitarian planning and response during the course of the conflict and since the end of the conflict;
delivery of humanitarian relief including military/civilian cooperation, security issues, availability of humanitarian supplies, food distribution and the re-instatement of the Oil-for-Food programme ;
the state of the health sector including staffing and availability of medical supplies;
the state of civilian infrastructure, especially water and electricity supplies;
availability of resources;
This is intended as a "stand alone" evidence session, the Committee will not be producing a report but will publish the transcript of the session along with some of the written submissions.
Any memorandum of more than six pages should include a summary at the front. Once submitted, evidence is the property of the Committee and may be published. Evidence should be sent to the Clerk of the Committee ideally by
15 May 2003. If possible, please supply an electronic version in MS Word or Rich Text Format, either by e-mail to INDCOM@parliament.uk or on a disk.
