OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY:TORCH ATTENDANTS
On Tuesday 6 May the Home Affairs Committee will hold a single evidence session on this subject, exploring the reasons why the much-publicised scuffles took place, the preparations by the Metropolitan Police and other parties for the relay, how the role of the torch attendants was determined and whether their actions were consistent with what was agreed.
At 10.20 am
Commander Broadhurst, Metropolitan Police Service
Rt Hon Keith Vaz, Chairman of the Committee, said:
"There was much concern about who the torch attendants were, what their role and authority was. It is extremely important that issues such as these are examined by parliament soon after they happen."
"The committee hopes to gain clarification on this matter to reassure the public."
Location: Wilson Room, Portcullis House
