Session 2005-05 / PN No. 20


The Home Affairs Committee has decided to take evidence on Restructuring Probation. The aim of the session is to question the Minister and other witnesses on the Government's recently announced proposals for restructuring the Probation Service. This is a one-off session and not part of a wider inquiry. The details of the session are as follows:

Date and Time: Tuesday 29 November at 10.15 a.m.

Witnesses: John Raine, Chief Executive, Probation Boards' Association, Harry Fletcher, Assistant General Secretary, National Association of Probation Officers, Daphne Wickham, Deputy Senior District Judge, Bow Street Magistrates' Court, and Rob Allen, Chairman, CLINKS; followed at approximately 11.30 a.m. by the Rt Hon Baroness Scotland of Asthal, QC, Minister for Criminal Justice and Offender Management, Home Office

The session will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats in Committee Rooms. It is advisable to allow about 20 minutes to pass through security checks.
