HOME SECRETARY TO GIVE EVIDENCE

The Home Affairs Committee will conduct its annual scrutiny session on the overall work of the Home Office at the following evidence session:

Date and Time: Tuesday 25 October at 10.30 a.m.
Inquiry: Home Office Issues
Witnesses: Rt Hon Charles Clarke MP, Home Secretary, and Sir John Gieve KCB, Permanent Under-Secretary of State, Home Office
Location (tbc): The Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House, London SW1

The session will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats in Committee Rooms. It is advisable to allow about 20 minutes to pass through security checks. Committee rooms are subject to change: those interested in attending the session should check the Committee Information Line on 020 7219 2033 a few days before the meeting.

NOTE FOR EDITORS: The Committee was nominated on 13 July 2005. Its terms of reference are to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of the Home Office and its associated public bodies; and the administration and expenditure of the Attorney General's Office, the Treasury Solicitor's Department, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Serious Fraud Office (but excluding individual cases and appointments and advice given within government by Law Officers).
