HOMELAND SECURITY: HOME SECRETARY TO GIVE EVIDENCE TO DEFENCE AND HOME AFFAIRS COMMITTEES
Home Secretary Rt Hon David Blunkett MP is to give evidence on homeland security in a joint session of the Defence and Home Affairs Select Committees, it was announced today.
The session will take place on Tuesday 2 March at 1500, in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House (venue subject to confirmation), and is expected to last approximately 2 hours.
Both Committees have a long-standing interest in the issue of homeland security. In 2002 the Defence Committee published a report on Defence and Security in the UK, and a year later examined the Draft Civil Contingencies Bill.
The Home Affairs Committee also conducted a lengthy investigation into the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Bill in 2001.
