The Responsibilities of the Secretary of State for Health
The Responsibilities of the Secretary of State for Health
There are few higher profile posts in Government than Secretary of State for Health. The responsibility for the nation's healthcare, and the thousands of people who work in the NHS and care services, is a huge task. Alan Johnson was appointed to this post in June 2007.
The Health Committee is interested in the new Secretary of State's views on the current state of the health service and his priorities for the future, especially in light of his recent statement on the Darzi review of the NHS.
Therefore, the Committee is holding the following evidence session:
Wednesday 25 July
Thatcher Room, Portcullis House
at 9.30 am
Rt Hon Alan Johnson MP, Secretary of State for Health
