Foreign Affairs Committee: Press Notice

15 September 2009

Oral Evidence Session

Wednesday 21 October 2009

In July 2009 the Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced the appointment of the Rt Hon Baroness Valerie Amos as the next British High Commissioner to Australia, in succession to the Rt Hon Helen Liddell. The appointment is expected to commence at the end of October 2009. On Wednesday 21 October 2009 the Foreign Affairs Committee will take oral evidence from Baroness Amos. This is in accord with the Committee's previous decision to conduct scrutiny of the appointment of individuals outside the diplomatic service to senior diplomatic posts. The oral evidence session will give the Committee an opportunity to explore the reasons for Baroness Amos's proposed appointment.

Wednesday 21 October 2009

At 2.30 pm

Rt Hon Baroness Amos of Brondesbury

The meeting will take place in the Grimond Room, Portcullis House.
