DEVELOPMENTS IN THE EU
Oral Evidence Session Wednesday 12 December 2007: European Council and Foreign Policy Aspects of the Lisbon Treaty
The Foreign Affairs Committee is holding its regular evidence session with the Foreign Secretary, in advance of the six-monthly meeting of the European Council of EU Heads of State or Government. The Committee will also take evidence from the Foreign Secretary on the Foreign Policy Aspects of the Lisbon Treaty, which, as announced in Press Notice 8 (Session 2007-08), is the topic of a Report currently under preparation.
The Lisbon Treaty will be signed by EU Member States on 13 December 2007. The Committee intends that its Report will help to inform the House before Parliamentary consideration of the associated Government bill.

1. The Foreign Affairs Committee is responsible for scrutinising the "administration, expenditure and policy" of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and its associated agencies. 2. Committee meetings are open to the public. Access is via St Stephen's Entrance for the House of Commons Committee Rooms and the main entrance on the Thames Embankment for Portcullis House Rooms.
