14 November 2002 FORTHCOMING PUBLIC MEETINGS 

WORLD SUMMIT ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT:  TURNING RHETORIC INTO REALITY

The Committee will take evidence from DEFRA Officials, on Wednesday 20 November at 4.30pm.  The session, which is part of the Committee's inquiry into the World Summit on Sustainable Development: turning rhetoric into reality, will take place in the Palace of Westminster, Committee Room 20.

WINNING THE WAR ON WASTE

The Committee will take evidence from the Environment Agency, on **Wednesday 27 November at 4.20pm ( now postponed till 18 December 2002).  The session, which is part of the Committee's inquiry into Winning the War on Waste, will take place in the Palace of Westminster, Committee Room 20.

1. The Committee announced its inquiry into The World Summit for Sustainable Development on 28 October 2002.  The Committee reported earlier this year on the UK Preparations for the World Summit on Sustainable Development.

2. The Committee announced its inquiry into Winning the War on Waste on 29 August. The meeting on 27th November will be the first held in connection with this inquiry.
