The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee has agreed a report about Vets and Veterinary Services. The focus of the report is on large (farm) animal vets, and on the State Veterinary Service.

The Report will be published on Thursday 23 October 2003 at 00.01 am. Advanced copies of the report will be available under embargo from 11.00 am on Wednesday 22 October.

Mr Michael Jack MP, Chairman of the Sub-committee which undertook the inquiry, will be available for interview. Those wishing to speak to him are asked to call 020 7219 3263.

A press notice will be issued at the same time as the Report is published.


Advanced copies of the Report will be available to members of the media from 11.00 am on Wednesday 22 October 2003. These copies will be embargoed until 00.01 am on Thursday 23 October. The Report will be available in the following ways:

•Members of the media can collect them from the Press Gallery, House of Commons.

•They will be sent by post to all witnesses (including those who submitted written evidence), or, if preferred, they can be collected either by witnesses or by their representatives between 11.00 am and 12.00 noon on Wednesday, from Westminster House, 7 Millbank, London.

•The Report will also be available from the usual outlets, including the Stationery Office bookshops (reference: Sixteenth Report of the Committee, Session 2002-03, HC 703).

•The Report will be posted on the internet at approximately 3.30 pm on 23 October, and will be accessible via the Committee's homepage.
