20 June 2003 New Covent Garden Market: a follow up

The title of the Committee's new inquiry, announced in a press release on 18 June as "The Future of London Markets", has been changed to "New Covent Garden Market: a follow-up".  The inquiry will follow up on the issues raised by its predecessor Committee, the Agriculture Committee, in its March 2001 Report on the New Covent Garden Market ( HC 173, 2000-01).

The New Covent Garden Market: a follow up Sub-committee, chaired by Michael Jack MP, will carry out the inquiry on behalf of the main Committee.  The witnesses for the oral evidence sessions remain unchanged from the details contained in the earlier press release:

Monday 30 June - 2.10 pm
Corporation of London; and the Covent Garden Market Authority

Monday 14 July - 2.10 pm
Nicholas Saphir; and Lord Whitty, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Defra
