DEFRA SCIENCE - ORAL EVIDENCE SESSION
Wednesday 17 March 2010 , 3.00-5.00 pm
Does Defra’s new Evidence Investment Strategy 2010-2013 and beyond* provide a robust basis for managing competing demands in tough economic times ?
Announcing a one-off evidence session to address this issue,
Committee Chairman, Rt Hon Michael Jack MP, said, “It is vital that Government uses the best evidence when formulating future policy so this session is to explore whether Defra’s new strategy makes the right judgements about where to place its efforts and resources.”
The Committee will hear short presentations from the following panel:
3.00 pm Professor Robert Watson, Chief Scientific Adviser, Defra
Professor Alistair Hetherington, Member of the Defra Science Advisory Council
plus other panel members tbc.
Stakeholders are invited to submit questions in advance of the session which the Committee may select to raise with the panel during a discussion session that will follow the presentations.
Members of the public and media representatives are welcome to attend this public session where, if time permits, there may be the opportunity during the discussion to put additional questions to the panel.
