Session 2008-09, 21 July 2009
NEW INQUIRY / EVIDENCE SESSIONS
The Defence Committee is undertaking an inquiry to examine the Ministry of Defence’s Annual Report and Accounts for 2008-09. The Annual Report, published on Monday 20 July, sets out the MoD’s performance against its new Departmental Strategic Objectives (DSOs), and shows whether progress has been made in a number of key areas since last year, such as Joint Personnel Administration, readiness and recruitment and retention.
The Committee would welcome written evidence to the inquiry. This should be sent to the Clerk of the Defence Committee by
Friday 23 October 2009.
The Defence Committee will be taking evidence from Sir Bill Jeffrey KCB, Permanent Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and Jon Thompson, MoD's Finance Director, on
Tuesday 10 November 2009 at 10.30 am; and from the Secretary of State, the Rt Hon Bob Ainsworth MP on
Tuesday 24 November at the same time (both sessions will be confirmed in October). These sessions will both take place at the House of Commons.
Those wishing to attend the meetings should check the exact venue by contacting the House of Commons Public Information Office on 020 7219 4272 on the day before the hearing.
