Web Forum and Evidence Session

EDUCATING SERVICE CHILDREN

Extension of Defence Committee interactive Web Forum
until 26 May

The Defence Committee web forum, a key part of its inquiry into educating Service children, is being extended until Friday 26 May.

The forum has received very helpful contributions from Service families, teachers and young people about their experience of education in both SCE and UK schools and the Committee has decided to extend the opportunity for people to contribute for a further two weeks. Members of the Committee are responding to comments posted on the forum in an interactive manner. The forum can be accessed from:

www.tellparliament.net/defcom

The Committee is particularly interested to hear more about the experiences of teachers in SCE schools and to hear more about SCE schools themselves.

As well as the web forum, the Committee continues to welcome written evidence from interested parties. The closing date for written submissions has been extended to 8 June 2006.

Oral evidence session with DFES

The Committee is planning a third evidence session with the Department for Education and Skills. Details will be announced in due course.
