Committee to visit the English Riviera as part of its inquiry into Tourism
The Culture, Media and Sport Committee will visit the English Riviera - Torquay, Paignton and Brixham - on 12th and 13th March as part of its inquiry into tourism in the UK. The visit coincides with British Tourism Week (
As part of the visit, the Committee will hold a formal oral evidence session in public with local representatives of the tourism industry (further details below). The Committee will also visit Paignton Pier, Kents Cavern Caves, and Crealy Adventure Park and hold meetings with the owners/operators of these attractions. Other events on the Committee’s itinerary include meetings with the Transport and General Workers Union and the British Amusement Catering Trade Association, and a tour of the local area guided by Torbay Council and the Torbay Development Agency.
Oral evidence session
The Committee’s eighth and final oral evidence session in its inquiry into tourism will be held in Torquay.
