COMMITTEE REPORT: ON COURSE HORSERACE BETTING

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee will publish its report, On course horserace betting, on Wednesday 23 January 2008 at 1000 (Fifth Report, Session 2007-08, HC 37).

The report considers the consequences of the Gambling Act 2005 for the administration and allocation of pitch positions for on course bookmakers and comments on:

  • The discussions between bookmakers and racecourses to agree new arrangements for the administration and regulation of on course betting.

  • The question of whether any indications of security of tenure were given to those buying positions on bookmakers’ lists.

  • The likely effects of moving to commercial negotiation for the allocation and pricing of pitch positions.

Hard copies of the Report and published evidence will be posted on Wednesday 23 January to anyone who gave oral or written evidence to the inquiry.

Hard copies of the Report will be placed in the Press Gallery, House of Commons, by 1000 on Wednesday 23 January.
