COMMITTEE REPORT ON PUBLIC SERVICE CONTENT

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee will publish its report on Public Service Content on Thursday 15 November 2007 at 0001 (First Report, Session 2007 08, HC 36).

The report draws conclusions on the future prospects for public service content in the digital age and makes recommendations on:

The case for public funding of broadcasters in addition to the BBC, such as Channel 4.

The future of key areas of public service content, including children’s programming and regional programming.

The case for provision of public service content on new media.

The Committee will hold an embargoed press briefing on Wednesday 14 November at 1100 in Committee Room 15 in the Palace of Westminster. Advance copies of the report and press release will be available to journalists in the room from 1030.

Hard copies of the Report and published evidence will be posted on Wednesday 14 November to anyone who gave oral or written evidence to the inquiry.
