London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games: funding and legacy
The Culture, Media and Sport Committee will publish its Second Report, London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games: funding and legacy (HC 69) at 6.00am on Wednesday 24 January 2007.
There will be a press conference to launch the Report in
Committee Room 6 in the Main Building at the House of Commons, at
Wednesday 24 January.
Advance copies of the Report for witnesses to the inquiry and the media will be available from 4pm on Tuesday 23 January under strict embargo from the Reception at No.7 Millbank, and in the Press Gallery.
The report will also be available via the parliamentary website from 3pm on the day of publication.
The inquiry’s terms of reference are:
The costs of staging the Games and the methods by which the Games are being funded, including the mechanism for supplementing the existing package as set out in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government and the Mayor of London;
Ways of maximising the value of the Olympic legacy both within London and across the UK;
How the nations and regions of the UK might derive lasting benefit from the staging of the Games, in particular through encouraging participation in sport and increasing tourism
The Committee did not plan to examine at this stage transport issues or performance by British athletes.
