ANNOUNCEMENT OF EVIDENCE SESSION
Department for Constitutional Affairs: key policies and priorities


The Constitutional Affairs Committee will hold a one-off evidence session today with Rt Hon Lord Falconer of Thoroton QC, Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs and Lord Chancellor.

This session has been arranged to explore the Department for Constitutional Affairs key policies and priorities. It follows a similar session which the Committee held in October 2005. The Committee will look into the general functions of the Department and ask about a wide range of policy issues for which the Department is responsible, including:

»Constitutional reforms

»Freedom of Information

»Human rights

»Asylum and immigration

»Reforms to the provision of Legal Aid (Carter Review)
