NATIONAL CURRICULUM

Oral Evidence Session

The Children, Schools and Families Committee will be taking formal oral evidence as follows:

Monday 24 November 2008 at 4.45 pm

Witnesses: The Rt. Hon. Jim Knight MP, Minister of State for Schools and Learners; and Sarah McCarthy-Fry MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Schools and Learners, DCSF; and Ian Harrison, Managing Director, Capita Strategic Children's Services and National Strategies.

The purpose of the session is to consider:

  • choice and entitlement in relation to the National Curriculum;
  • the direction of recent reforms to the National Curriculum;
  • the implications for the National Curriculum of related policies and initiatives, including the National Strategies; and
  • the role of the DCSF and QCA in relation to the National Curriculum.

This session will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats in Committee Rooms. It is advisable to allow about 20 minutes to pass through security checks. Committee rooms and timings are subject to change.
