The Children, Schools and Families Committee will be taking formal oral evidence as follows:

This one-off session will discuss the current situation on National Tests.

Followed by (2) at approximately 4.15pm:

Evidence from: Ty Goddard, Director, British Council for School Environments; and Richard Simmons, Chief Executive, Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment; and another witness to be confirmed.

Followed by at approximately 5.00pm:

Evidence from: Tim Byles, Chief Executive, Partnerships for Schools.

This session will examine progress in the Building Schools for the Future project, and on issues raised by the Education and Skills Committee in its Report, Sustainable Schools: Are we building schools for the future?

Evidence from: Rt Hon Ed Balls MP, Secretary of State; David Bell, Permanent Secretary; and Jon Thompson, Director General, Corporate Services, Department for Children, Schools and Families.

This session will consider the Departmental Annual Report published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families in May 2008 and related issues.

These sessions will also be open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats in Committee Rooms. It is advisable to allow about 20 minutes to pass through security checks. Committee rooms and timings are subject to change.
