Speaker’s Committee for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority

The Speaker’s Committee for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) considers the candidates proposed by the Speaker, following fair and open competition, for the posts of Chair and members of the IPSA and approves IPSA’s annual estimate of resources.

The IPSA was established under the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009 to pay Members’ salaries, set and pay Members’ allowances and to appoint a Compliance Officer to conduct investigations where there is reason to believe that a Member may have been paid an amount under IPSA’s scheme that should not have been allowed.
