The Lord Speaker's committee on the size of the House, chaired by Crossbencher Lord Burns, has now met 11 times and continues to make good progress.
Written contributions have been received from 60 members of the House and over 60 members of the public and organisations. The committee is now in the process of holding informal oral consultations with a cross-section of the contributors in order to discuss possible options in more detail. The committee is benefiting from the advice of two renowned experts on the House of Lords, Professor Meg Russell, Director of the Constitution Unit at University College London, and Dr Chris Ballinger of Exeter College, Oxford. The committee remains on course to report early in the summer.
