EU Sub-Committee G (Social Policies and Consumer Protection) ceased to exist from May 2012 onwards when the number of sub-committees of the House of Lords European Union Select Committee were reduced from seven to six. It was responsible for scrutinising EU proposals on social policy and consumer protection and its remit has been reallocated to the remaining sub-committees as follows: employment matters will now be considered by Sub-Committee B (Internal Market, Infrastructure and Employment); Consumer protection, Equality and Cultural issues by Sub-Committee E (Justice, Institutions and Consumer Protection) and Health, Education and Sport issues by Sub-Committee F (Home Affairs, Health and Education).
