EU Sub-Committee E is one of the six sub-committees of the House of Lords European Union Select Committee.
The primary purpose of the Select Committee and its sub-committees is to scrutinise EU law in draft before it is agreed in the EU, to expose difficulties and propose improvements. This is carried out by each sub-committee through correspondence with Ministers, evidence sessions with Ministers or officials, and inquiries.
Sub-Committee E scrutinises EU documents and policy on:
- civil and criminal justice
- fundamental rights
- the EU's institutions, agencies and other bodies
- EU citizenship
- consumer protection
- intellectual property
- culture policy
