  • New items of scrutiny 

    Each sitting week the Chairman of the EU Select Committee sends items of scrutiny to the sub-committee for examination.

  • Correspondence with Ministers 

    The primary purpose of the Lords EU Select Committee is to scrutinise EU law in draft before the Government takes a position on it in the EU Council of Ministers. This scrutiny is carried out by each Sub-Committee through correspondence with Ministers

  • Residential Property Directive

Progress of Scrutiny

Progress of Scrutiny records the decisions taken by the EU Committee on European documents that have been deposited in Parliament for scrutiny.

It lists those documents:

  • referred to the Committee or one or more Sub-Committees
  • which remain under scrutiny or awaiting the outcome of correspondence with Ministers
  • considered and cleared from further scrutiny and correspondence
