EU Single Market

The Committee published its report into the future of the EU Single Market on 4 April 2011. It was debated in Grand Committee on 13 September 2011.

The inquiry was undertaken to consider whether complacency and the economic crisis had stalled progress in completing the single market. The Committee concluded that the Government needed to be a more effective “champion” for the benefits of the single market, and that Member States and European institutions had to work together to properly implement Single Market measures, in order to allow the Single Market to play a strong role in delivering economic growth across the EU.
