EU Sub-Committee C is one of the six sub-committees of the House of Lords European Union Select Committee.
The primary purpose of the Select Committee and its sub-committees is to scrutinise EU law in draft before it is agreed in the EU, to expose difficulties and propose improvements. This is carried out by each sub-committee through Correspondence with Ministers, evidence sessions with Ministers or officials and inquiries.
Sub-Committee C scrutinises EU documents and policy on:
- Common Foreign and Security Policy.
- Common Security & Defence Policy including EU military and civilian operations outside the EU; the European Security Strategy; defence co-operation.
- External relations between the EU and non-EU countries; and between the EU and other International Organisations.
- Development aid.
- International trade.
