Secretary of State explains statement on post-study visas

19 January 2016

The Scottish Affairs Committee holds an evidence session with Secretary of State for Scotland on his recent post-study visa statements.

Tuesday 19 January 2016, Committee Room 8, Palace of Westminster

At 2.15pm

  • Rt Hon David Mundell MP, Secretary of State for Scotland

Chair's comment

Chairman of the Scottish Affairs Committee, Pete Wishart, commented:

"It is unacceptable that the Secretary of State has made this statement at this time. He has ignored the opinions of politicians, including those from his own party, in Scotland, and shown a lack of respect to this committee as it is in the middle of completing an inquiry into the visa issue.

We expect Mr Mundell to give a full explanation of his actions before the committee on Tuesday."
