In addition to the evidence session with the current and former Chief Executive of Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council (previously announced), the Home Affairs Committee is to take evidence from the Co-ordinator of Rochdale’s Crisis Intervention Team, a specialist sexual health advice and support service for young people, which has provided support for victims of localised grooming in the town.
Tuesday 6 November 2012
Committee Room 8, Palace of Westminster
- Sara Rowbotham, Crisis Intervention Team Co-ordinator and Sexual Health Improvement Specialist (Young People)
- Jim Taylor, Chief Executive, and Roger Ellis, former Chief Executive, Rochdale Council
Committee Chair Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:
“Before the current and former Chief Executive give evidence, we will be hearing first-hand from a provider of support services for the victims of grooming, who has been voicing concerns about the situation for several years.
The Safeguarding Board Report identifies many of the failings in Rochdale at an institutional level; Ms Rowbotham will tell the Committee about her professional experience of trying to get the authorities to intervene in support of the victims.”
