Government's review of Counter-Terrorism

The Committee held an evidence session on 14 December 2010 examining the Government's review of Counter-Terrorism.

Tuesday 14 December 2010

Purpose of session

In July the Coalition Government announced a review of counter-terrorism and security powers “to look at the issues of security and civil liberties in relation to the most sensitive and controversial counter-terrorism and security powers and, consistent with protecting the public and where possible, to provide a correction in favour of liberty.” Lord Macdonald of River Glaven QC was chosen to provide independent oversight of the review.
