This was the first of two evidence sessions for the Committee’s inquiry into FCO Performance and Finances. The session focussed on the FCO’s performance in 2010–11 and the Department’s progress towards implementing the spending cuts demanded by the Spending Review 2010.

The Committee held the second of its two evidence sessions in this inquiry. This session focussed on the performance and finances of the FCO’s two “associated” bodies – the BBC World Service and the British Council.
The Committee also questioned Lord Patten, Chairman, BBC Trust on his views on the future and governance of the World Service, especially once funding responsibility for the World Service is transferred from the FCO to the BBC in April 2014.
