Committee to hold first evidence session on Energy subsidies in the UK

23 April 2013

The Environmental Audit Committee will hold its first public evidence hearing on Energy Subsidies in the UK at 2.15 pm on Wednesday 24 April in the Thatcher Room, Portcullis House.

The Committee will be discussing with Dr Blyth his paper – Energy Subsidies in the UK – produced for the Committee, including the approaches different institutions have used to define ‘subsidy’, the extent of subsidies in the UK for different types of energy and how the UK compares with other countries. The Committee intend to use Dr Blyth’s evidence – his paper and his oral evidence today – as a platform for launching the inquiry and calling for further evidence from think-tanks, academics and members of the public on the Government’s approach to measuring and managing the extent of energy subsidies.
