Following the discovery of horsemeat and traces of pig in a number of supermarket beef products, the Committee held an inquiry on the effectiveness of traceability, labelling and hygiene standards in the food supply chain and the role of government, food processors and retailers; and responsibility for food safety and port entry controls of meat imports. the Committee published two Reports.
There was a lack of clarity about the role of the FSA in responding to the contamination of beef products, says the EFRA Committee.
