Purpose of the session

The Committee, continuing its inquiry into teacher training and supply, will take evidence from the General Teaching Councils for England and Scotland, to learn more about their respective roles, and the importance of regulation, performance management, development and professional identity for teachers. The Committee will also consider evidence from Ofsted, which is responsible for the inspection of initial teacher education.
