  • Administration Committee

    The Administration Committee considers the services that the House of Commons provides for Members of Parliament, staff and the general public

  • Backbench Business Committee

    The Backbench Business Committee chooses the business to be debated during backbench time

  • Business, Innovation and Skills Committee

    The Business Innovation and Skills Committee examines the administration, expenditure and policy of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and its associated public bodies

  • Communities and Local Government Committee

    The Communities and Local Government Committee examines the expenditure, administration, and policy of the Department for Communities and Local Government and its associated bodies

  • Culture, Media and Sport Committee

    The Culture, Media and Sport Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and its associated bodies

  • Defence Committee

    The Defence Committee examines the expenditure, administration, and policy of the Ministry of Defence and its associated public bodies

  • Education Committee

    The Education Committee examines the administration, expenditure and policy of the Department for Education and also covers the work of non-departmental public bodies

  • Energy and Climate Change Committee

    The Energy and Climate Change Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department of Energy and Climate Change and its associated public bodies

  • Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee

    The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee examines the expenditure, administration, and policy of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and its associated public bodies

  • Environmental Audit Committee

    The Environmental Audit Committee considers how well government policies and programmes contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development, and it audits performance against targets in those areas

  • European Scrutiny Committee

    The European Scrutiny Committee assesses the legal/political importance of EU documents, deciding which are debated, monitoring the activities of UK Ministers in the Council and keeping developments in the EU under review

  • Finance and Services Committee

    The Finance and Services Committee considers expenditure on, and the administration of, services for the House of Commons

  • Foreign Affairs Committee

    The Foreign Affairs Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and its associated public bodies

  • International Development Committee

    The International Development Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for International Development and its associated public bodies

  • Justice Committee

    The Justice Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Ministry of Justice and its associated public bodies

  • Liaison Committee (Commons)

    The Liaison Committee comprises all the chairs of select committees in the House of Commons, they regularly look at the work of their committees and decide which committee reports the House of Commons should be debating

  • Members' Expenses Committee

    The Committee on Members’ Expenses is established under Standing Order No. 152G (as amended on 7 July 2011). Its role is to consider matters relating to Members’ expenses referred to it by the House

  • Northern Ireland Affairs Committee

    The Northern Ireland Affairs Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Northern Ireland Office and its associated public bodies

  • Political and Constitutional Reform Committee

    The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee considers political and constitutional reform, scrutinising the work of the Deputy Prime Minister

  • Privileges Committee

    The House of Commons Committee of Privileges is appointed to consider specific matters relating to privileges referred to it by the House

  • Procedure Committee (Commons)

    The Procedure Committee considers, and makes recommendations on the practices and procedures of the House of Commons

  • Public Accounts Committee

    The Public Accounts Committee examines reports produced by the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG) on value for money (VFM) studies of economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which government departments and other bodies have used their resources

  • Public Administration Select Committee (PASC)

    Committee appointed by the House of Commons to consider matters relating to the quality and standards of administration within the Civil Service

  • Science and Technology Committee (Commons)

    The Science and Technology Committee ensures that government policy and decision-making is based on good scientific and engineering advice and evidence

  • Scottish Affairs Committee

    The Scottish Affairs Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Scotland Office and its associated public bodies

  • Scrutiny Unit

    The Scrutiny Unit is part of the Committee Office in the House of Commons. It has a team of specialists who support the work of select committees.

  • Standards Committee

    The House of Commons Committee on Standards oversees the work of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards

  • Standards Review Sub-Committee

    The Standards Review Sub-Committee will examine the current system for consideration of complaints about Members of Parliament and improvements as required

  • Standing Orders (Private Bills) (Commons)

    The Standing Orders Committee is charged with deciding whether or not to dispense with any Standing Order, which the Examiners of Petitions for Private Bills consider has not been complied with

  • Statutory Instruments Committee (Commons)

    The Statutory Instruments Committee is responsible for scrutinising all statutory instruments laid before the House of Commons (its work is closely related to that of the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments)

  • Transport Committee

    The Transport Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Transport and its associated public bodies.

  • Treasury Committee

    The Treasury Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of HM Treasury, HM Revenue & Customs, and associated public bodies, including the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority.

  • Treasury Sub Committee

    The Treasury Sub-Committee is appointed by the Treasury Committee to examine the work of the minor departments accountable to the Treasury and other matters referred to it by the main Committee.

  • Welsh Affairs Committee

    The Welsh Affairs Committee examines matters within the responsibility of the Secretary of State for Wales (including relations with the National Assembly for Wales)

  • Work and Pensions Committee

    The Work and Pensions Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Work and Pensions and its associated public bodies
