This paper contains labour market figures for parliamentary constituencies, as well as a summary of the latest national and regional statistics.

• The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance decreased by 8,600 between April and May 2013, to 1.51 million people aged 18 or over.

• The ILO measure of unemployment was 2.51 million people in February-April 2013, down 5,000 from the previous quarter and down 88,000 from the same period last year. The unemployment rate was 7.8%.

• The number of people in employment was 29.76 million in February-April 2013, up 24,000 from November 2012-January 2013 and up 432,000 on the previous year. The employment rate (the proportion of the population aged 16-64 in work) was 71.5%.

• The number of economically inactive people aged 16-64 was 8.99 million in February-April 2013, up 40,000 compared to the last quarter but down 199,000 compared to the previous year.
