Crossrail - a hybrid bill

The Crossrail Bill

The Crossrail Bill was introduced into the House of Commons on 22nd February 2005. It is a hybrid bill and there will an opportunity in each House for individuals, groups and organisations who are especially and directly affected by the bill to "petition" against it.  Those who are successful may have their arguments heard by a Select Committee in the House where they petitioned.

The Bill is in the House of Commons at the moment.  For further information go to the House of Commons' Crossrail page.

If the Bill passes all of its stages in the House of Commons it will be sent to the House of Lords.  There will then be a further opportunity to petition against it (whether or not a similar petition was deposited in the House of Commons).

Further information about what happens when the bill reaches the House of Lords will be posted on this page nearer the time.
