Private Members' Bills are Public Bills with proposals to change the law as it applies to the general population.
They are introduced by MPs and Lords who are not government ministers. In this podcast we hear that while only a minority of Private Members' Bills become law, by creating publicity around an issue, they may also affect other legislation indirectly.
