This is a short version of the Government's White Paper on 'The United Kingdom and the European communities', published in 1971. It explains some of the major issues and opportunities for Britain on entering the Common Market. A White Paper sets out the details of future policy, and will often be the basis for a Bill to be put before Parliament.
