The hat pictured was specially designed for women peers to wear during their introduction to the House of Lords. It resembled the three-cornered hat worn by women naval officers, and, on the side, was a rosette of gold lace with a small button of gold sequins in the centre.
This type of hat is worn by Baroness Swanborough while taking the oath inthe drawing by Juliet Pannett.
