The House of Commons Information Office is often consulted by enquirers who have seen a reply to a Parliamentary Question, or a point in a debate, in which a Minister says "I am arranging for a copy of this document to be deposited in the Library".

Invariably these enquirers wish to know something about the system of deposited papers and how to obtain copies of particular papers.

This Factsheet describes the types of documents that are included within the deposited papers set and how documents are placed there. It explains how to find details of papers and how the public may access them.
