THE IMPACT ON INDUSTRY OF THE PROPOSED
CLIMATE CHANGE LEVY

The Committee has decided to inquire into the impact on industry of the Climate Change Levy which the Government has announced will be introduced from April 2001.

It proposes to hear oral evidence on Tuesday July 6, from John Battle MP, Minister for Energy and Industry, DTI, Michael Meacher MP, Minister for the Environment, DETR; Lord Marshall of Knightsbridge; major energy users and others.

Written evidence, including responses to the consultation exercise recently launched by HM Customs & Excise, is invited to be submitted by Thursday June 17.
